Let’s Move is proud to partner with 123JUNK, an excellent company in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C., that helps people clean out their homes and offices. We’re honored to be a featured partner on their blog this month.
Check out the post below (currently features on their site) and find out the five tips for reducing the stress of a move!
With recent features in Washingtonian magazine and the Wall Street Journal, Let’s Move is grabbing the attention of home and business owners reaching from Northern Virginia to Baltimore, MD and throughout the DelMarVa region. And at 123JUNK, we’re proud to partner with them to better service our clients.
“Let’s Move is an organizational and move management company that provides ease and simplicity to anyone in transition,” explained Kim McMahon, who co-owns the company along with Allison Pihl. Services offered include move management and concierge, downsizing, home organization, senior move management, staging, and aging in place.
Their clients range from seniors who are downsizing and moving into retirement communities, to empty nesters who are right-sizing, to busy professionals who needs to move but just don’t have the time to do it themselves. As a move concierge, “We can orchestrate the entire move, from start to finish,” Allison said. “We make sure our clients take the right possessions with them and get everything settled into their new home. They can move in the next day and the home is ready to operate.”
“What we do is declutter, sort and reorganize, whether it’s for a move or to help someone stage their home for sale,” Allison added. “And in any transition, it is inevitable that there are items remaining that need to be repurposed or hauled away.” That is where 123JUNK comes in. “123JUNK is mission driven, like us, with their business model of donation, recycle and trash. We both are dedicated to keeping perfectly usable items out of the landfill, while making sure our clients are well served.”
Let’s Move gives back to the community in a number of ways including supporting Soles for Souls; First Tee in Washington, DC; Move for Hunger; Habitat for Humanity; and the Nationwide Food Drive, turning un-used items into charitable donations.
From Corporate Careers to Let’s Move
Allison and Kim each came from big careers in corporate America, and met each other as running partners in the local community (they’ve actually run marathons together). Each was making good money but lacking a balance in life so they decided to leave the corporate world to open Let’s Move.
“We love making a difference in people’s lives, and we love what we do. And we get to meet the most fascinating and good people,” Kim said. “We let our clients dictate the customized solutions that work for them. We talk with our clients to understand their needs when we’re doing the entire move for them, and create strategy and floor plans for their new home. For other clients who want to be involved, we work alongside, giving emotional support as well. They find it helpful when they are letting go of years of belongings and treasured memories.”
“Moving is the third most stressful thing you will do in your life,” Allison explained. “To pay a small fraction of your real estate transaction for Let’s Move’s services is money well spent in creating a stress-free, positive, much happier move experience.”
